The advanced functionalities for next generation mobile computing require higher data rates, more sophisticated algorithms, and greater computational diversity with stringent power requirements. Handling security and privacy challenges with limited energy are essential for smart cities that lead the societies to realize energy-efficient computing paradigms.


ABOUT COLLEGE

St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering is owned, administered and run by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kuzhithurai, under the able leadership of the Most. Rev.Dr.Jeromedhas Varuvel, the present chairman of the college, from the bifurcation of the diocese of Kuzhithurai from the Diocese of Kottar in December, 2014. SXCCE was started in 1998 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kottor, before its bifurcation, under the nurturing leadership of (the Late) bishop, Most.Rev.Dr.Leon A. Tharmaraj, who coordinated the initiatives and efforts of the laity and the clergy of the diocese.

St. Xavier’s Catholic College of Engineering vibrates the vision of ‘Creating a Technically Empowered Humane Society’ by offering cutting edge technical and managerial education to the rural youth of Tamil Nadu and beyond.

St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering has six undergraduate and twelve postgraduate programs, besides five university recognized research departments. All the programs are approved by All India

Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and all the U.G programs have permanent affiliation of the Anna University. In pursuit of excellence, a quality management system has been developed in line with ISO 9001-2000 and implemented in this college. The college has all the requisite infrastructural facilities as per the stipulation of the government to impart technical education of the highest standard. All the departments have updated and well equipped laboratories.

Students and faculty members are highly motivated to conduct researches in different fields of technology. Currently, funded research projects from Government agencies and collaborative research projects with reputed foreign universities are being carried out with the sound infrastructure of SXCCE. Hundreds of youngsters are pursuing their doctoral level research with the guidance of the expertise available in the campus. The leading funding agencies supporting us are the Department of Science and Technology, AICTE, UGC, and so forth.

To impart value laden education, the college has associated itself with many professional and nonprofessional organizations. SXCCE has also established close association with many industries with standing MoUs. The placement and training wing of the college trains the students on par with the current requirement of the industries and provides platform for various companies to recruit students from this college. All facilities have also been also tuned up to prepare our students to take various competitive exams related to popular government services and to get admission for higher studies in renowned institutions in India and abroad.

St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering is located at the lap of the Western Ghats at Chunkankadai in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, overlooking the Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram National Highway (NH 47). Lush green paddy fields and plantain farms spread their arms around the college and gentle breeze caresses it.

While importance is given to imparting excellent technical knowledge, utmost care is also taken to instill into the young minds a wider perspective of social and spiritual values, thereby enlightening them to become committed nation builders and exemplary citizens.


ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1998 with an intake of 40 in B.E. In the year 2000 the intake was increased to 60 and in the year 2007 the intake was further increased to 120. M.E program in Applied Electronics was introduced in the year 2005, Communication System was introduced in the year 2011, Medical Electronics was introduced in the year 2012 with an intake of 18, Communication and Networking was introduced in the year 2011 with an intake of 24. In the year 2013, the intake was increased to 24 for the courses M.E Communication Systems and M.E Applied Electronics.

Salient Features

The department has good infrastructural facilities and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories. The department also has audio visual facilities such as overhead projectors and multimedia projectors which help the faculty to implement new teaching methodologies. As a part of curriculum, industrial visits are arranged for B.E. students. Many of our students are members of professional associations like IEEE, IET, ACM and ISTE and they actively participate in various technical activities. ELECTROS is the association of the department which arranges seminars, symposia and conferences. Many of our UG and PG students have secured university ranks and many of our students are placed in multinational companies. Our department is the recognized research center of Anna University, Chennai.
